Victory Garden
A community garden that feeds our heroes.
In 2015, employees of Home Depot — under the direction of Alana Hart — constructed raised beds, filled them with pea gravel and dirt, and planted seedlings of tomatoes, cucumbers, green peppers, eggplant, and various herbs. Mary Lou Baker watered and weeded the plants and helped harvest the produce, which was given to veterans and others in the Orion area who could use some help getting fresh vegetables.
Every year since, Home Depot has generously donated the seedlings and planted them for our community. Volunteers tend the garden, harvest the crops, and distribute them to those who could most benefit from fresh vegetables as part of their meals. We thank all those who continue to make our Victory Garden a huge benefit for our heroes.
